Thank you for your interest in residency training at St. Vincent Hospital!
St. Vincent Hospital offers Transitional Year (18 residents) and Preliminary Internal Medicine Residencies (6 residents), each providing one year of post-graduate clinical education to prepare residents for subsequent training in a medical, surgical, or support specialty. Both programs are fully-accredited by the ACGME.
The most common careers chosen by our Transitional and Preliminary Medicine graduates are in Anesthesiology, Radiology, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Dermatology and PM&R. Both programs also provide an excellent training experience for those undecided on a specific specialty.
The Transitional Year Residency is co-sponsored by the Internal Medicine and Family Medicine Residency Programs. With appropriate selection of electives, either program can allow the resident to meet the PGY- 1 requirements for transfer into the categorical residencies in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine, should openings be available.
Thank you for considering our program. Please know that I am committed to making the Transitional and Preliminary Medicine Residency Programs the best training experiences possible.
