Classes
Classes, workshops and one-to-one teaching are an important aspect of our approach to community health care. We offer year-round classes and special programs that will answer your questions and prepare you for the next phase of life.
EMT
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification classes are conducted at least twice each year. For more information and an application, contact Bev Hilburt at 765-646-8529.
The $800 fee includes CPR training, the textbook and other class materials. Following successful completion of the course, program graduates are eligible for the State of Indiana Certification Examination and the National EMT Registry Examination. Application for the state certification is dependent upon passing this examination. This course is required to be a paramedic.
To be considered for the program, applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. All students must read, write, and speak English fluently. Class size is limited. Documentation of a negative TB test required within past 3 months.
Birthing Center

Prepared Childbirth
This series of five classes provides information to empower the expectant mother and her family to make informed choices during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and beyond. Topics include:
* Pre-term labor

* Stages of labor
* Comfort techniques for labor

* Care for mom after delivery
* Boot Camp for New Dads
* Newborn care
* Tour of the Birthing Center

Spanish Prenatal Class
This class is for Spanish-speaking expectant mothers and their families. The class reviews childbirth preparation including true vs. false labor, stages of labor, pain control options including epidurals, Cesarean delivery, newborn care and breastfeeding. The class is taught entirely in Spanish.

La clase del partoEsta clase es para las mujeres embarazadas que hablan español y sus familias. La clase repasa la preparación para el parto, lo cual incluye los dolores del parto (verdaderos y falsos), las etapas del parto, y las opciones para aliviar el dolor, por ejemplo la anestesia epidural y la cesárea. La clase también revisará el cuidado del recién nacido y la lactancia materna. Se dará la clase completamente en español.

Prenatal Refresher Class
This is a one-day class for expectant mothers and their families who have already had children but wish to review childbirth information. Call (765) 608-2625 or (765) 646-8117 to schedule a class.
Sibling Class
Our sibling class is for new brothers and sisters who would like to take a tour of the Birthing Center and watch a video about newborn characteristics, and what to expect when mom comes home with the baby. Siblings should be at least 3 years old and are encouraged to bring their own doll for stuffed animal so they can practice diapering skills. Call (765) 608-2625 or (765) 646-8117 to schedule a class.
Cesarean Section
This class will help prepare the patient and family for a Cesarean Section, including pre- and post-operative expectations. Please call the Birthing Center to schedule a class.

Diabetes
