Dr. Yeh Joins Saint John’s Cancer Center
Radiation oncologist Alexander Yeh, M.D., has joined the Saint John’s Cancer Center. Dr. Yeh, a board certified specialist, has extensive expertise in the latest stereotactic radiosurgery, which Saint John’s Cancer Center will begin offering this fall when a new specialized linear accelerator is installed.
Previously serving at IU Health Methodist Hospital, Dr. Yeh was one of the first physicians to bring stereotactic body radiation therapy to Indiana. He was recognized in 2011 by Indianapolis Monthly as a “Top Doc” in radiation oncology and has been at the forefront in the treatment of many complicated and very specific radiation therapy treatments.
He is a 12 year employee and shareholder of Cancer Care Group, a large statewide group of radiation oncologist serving cancer programs throughout Central Indiana. Dr. Yeh is serving as the primary radiation oncologist of the radiation oncology program for Saint John’s.
Dr. Yeh earned his medical degree from the St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo, in 1998. He completed his internship in internal medicine through Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, followed by a radiation oncology residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
“I am excited to be part of a medical community that is willing to invest in new technologies,” said Dr. Yeh about Saint John’s program. “Looking ahead, Saint John will be able to treat tumors using radiosurgery as well as stereostatic body radiation therapy. Furthermore, the Cancer Center works hard for its community by providing the very best medical staff. I just feel very fortunate to be part of a system that has patients as their number one priority.”
Dr. Yeh joins a team of oncologists at Saint John’s Cancer Center who come from exceptional educational backgrounds, including Columbia School of Medicine, Harvard University and Johns Hopkins Hospital – the best of the best,” said Director Sandra Crawley, director of Saint John’s Cancer Center and Clinical Research Department.
Underlying cancer care at Saint John’s is a strong commitment to our patients.
“Treatment is more effective when you have a relationship with the patient and relationships are central to how we approach care here,” said Dr. Yeh.
“I am extraordinarily pleased that a radiation oncologist of Dr. Yeh’s considerable expertise and years of experience serving patients from across Indiana has chosen to join our team at Saint John’s,” said Saint John’s President Tom VanOsdol. “Saint John’s Cancer Center has grown exponentially in service to patients throughout our East Central Indiana region over the past few years. We’ve added new, state-of-the-art technologies and therapies that can only be received regionally at Saint John’s.
