Breast Mammography

Saint John’s was the first Madison County facility to achieve accreditation by the American College of Radiology for mammography services. Full field digital mammography is the most advanced form of breast diagnosis and provides the clearest images.

Women age 40 and over should have regularly scheduled mammograms. To schedule a mammogram, consult your physician regarding the schedule appropriate for them and request that the exam be conducted at Saint John’s Women’s Center.

Types of Tests

With our sophisticated equipment, we offer the following procedures:

  • Full field digital mammography
  • Stereotactic Suros Vacuum-assisted core biopsy system
  • Wire localization for surgical breast biopsies
  • Breast ultrasound

Saint John’s offers stereotactic core needle biopsy system. After a three-dimensional X-ray pinpoints the lesion, a special needle extracts tissue cores for analysis.

Our digital images are processed through our CAD (Computer Aided Detection) system prior to being read by our radiologists. This technology acts as a second highly skilled radiologist, making a billion calculations for each image and marking any areas that may warrant a second look.

Saint John’s has been recognized as a Top 100 Hospital in the US for Patient Experience by WomenCertified and has received the Women’s Choice Award.
