Health Fairs and Screenings
St. Joseph Hospital participates in numerous health fairs and screenings throughout the year, including the Howard County Health Fair and the Wellness Fair at Indiana University Kokomo. Serving individuals who would not otherwise seek out or have access to such health services, these screenings can be vital in uncovering health issues and highlighting the importance of healthy lifestyles. Blood pressure, cholesterol tests, and others are among the many free or discounted tests offered throughout the year.
Health education and prevention awareness materials are also distributed at each screening. Other screening events sponsored by St.Joseph include free Healthy Heart screenings that offer:
- An EKG
- A total lipid test that evaluates cholesterol, blood pressure reading and a body mass index calculation
- A Legs for Life screening that helps men and women identify their risk for Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD), a painful condition that affects circulation in the legs and is related to heart disease
