Mitral regurgitation affects millions of people worldwide. It’s a common heart valve condition that prevents the mitral valve from closing completely. It’s typically treated through open-heart surgery, but at the Valve Center of Excellence, we’re testing a new revolutionary alternative to treating mitral regurgitation.

The MitraClip™ offers a minimally invasive treatment for mitral regurgitation with the use of a catheter to clip the leaflets of the mitral valve together to reduce regurgitation. Since 2005, St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana has been the only center in the state working with the MitraClip™.
