Medical Social Service Outreach

As part of the standard of care provided at St. Vincent Indianapolis, the Medical Social Services Department provides psychosocial and discharge services to patients and their families to maximize social functioning and to empower patients and their families.

In addition to these standard services, social workers also provide direct assistance for temporary food, clothing, shelter, and transportation needs and other family expenses. Through the work of the department, in 2009, more than 300 community agencies were utilized to assist 13,000 patients and their families in achieving their optimal level of health and healing.
