Mobile Screening Van
In 2009, staff on the St.Vincent Mobile Screening Van screened 3,500 women with mammography, as well as educated people about healthy lifestyles and cancer prevention.
Approximately 925 of these women were uninsured or underinsured, and they were served at no charge through granted funds from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. Diagnostic testing and care for women requiring follow-up was provided at no charge through charitable funds from St.Vincent.
In addition, the Mobile Screening Van traveled to 75 workplaces in Central Indiana, partnering with employers to increase access to screening and education for approximately 2,575 women. For skin, prostate, colorectal and head & neck cancer screenings, approximately 400 people were screened.
The Mobile Screening Van has increased St.Vincent’s capacity to reach many in the community who would otherwise not have access to screening and education.
