Hoosier Healthwise Enrollment and Outreach
St.Vincent Indianapolis partners with the Health and Hospital
Corporation to provide an enrollment team based at St.Vincent to help
enroll citizens in public programs like Hoosier Healthwise, Healthy
Indiana Plan (HIP), Medicaid Disability, Presumptive Eligibility, and
St.Vincent Advantage. In fiscal year 2009, the outreach team touched the
lives of 8,100 families and is on target to complete 1,736 enrollment
applications for eligible individuals and families.
St.Vincent Indianapolis provides office space, equipment and
supplies, as well as full-time coordination and supervision of this

Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) and Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB)
The St.Vincent Indianapolis QMB/SLMB team in fiscal year 2009
assisted more than 50 individuals who struggled with the financial
strain of Medicare deductibles and copayments last year with more than
1,400 contacts. The seniors were Medicare beneficiaries of modest means
who paid all or some of Medicare’s cost sharing amounts (i.e. premiums,
deductibles and copayments).
To qualify, the individual had to be eligible for Medicare and meet
certain income guidelines which change annually. Contact Madonna Gillum
at (317) 338-2205 for additional information.
Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP)
SHIIP is a partnership between St.Vincent and the Indiana Department
of Insurance that utilizes five trained St.Vincent volunteer counselors.
The program has been in existence for seven years. In fiscal year 2009,
the counselors provided free and unbiased information to approximately
725 seniors with questions regarding Medicare, Medicare Supplements,
HMOs, Managed Care Plans, Medicaid and long-term care programs. Call
