Stereotactic and Core Biopsies

A stereotactic breast biopsy identifies the location of an abnormal area in three dimensions using a special mammography machine. The 3D image helps guide a radiologist when collecting a tissue sample for a core biopsy. This technique provides an alternative to surgical methods for diagnosing a breast condition.
