St.Vincent Jennings Hospital officials recently announced a new partnership with St.Vincent Emergency Physicians, Inc., a multi-physician emergency medicine group. The affiliation, which began on June 1, 2011, builds on the level of emergency care for residents of Jennings, Jackson, Bartholomew and surrounding counties. In addition, the partnership will increase access to care by having more emergency care support from the group of experienced physicians.
The St.Vincent Jennings Emergency Department is open 24/7 with a team of caring emergency physicians, nurses and clerical staff.
On March 31, 2011, a partnership was established with Rural Metro of Indiana to provide ambulance transport service for patients requiring transport from St.Vincent Jennings Hospital to a higher level of care within St.Vincent Health or at another tertiary care hospital. Rural Metro has been in business for more than 65 years, and has served 12 Indiana counties for more than 20 years. The Rural Metro ambulances are fully equipped with basic and advanced life support equipment and is available at all times on the St.Vincent Jennings Hospital campus.
Last year, the parent company of St.Vincent Jennings Hospital, St.Vincent Health, announced its critical care air transport affiliation – StatFlight, which complements the new St.Vincent Emergency Physicians Inc. partnership. If a patient’s condition requires care from a more advanced health facility, St.Vincent Emergency Physicians Inc. also has immediate access to air transportation from StatFlight that has an aircraft onsite at St.Vincent Jennings Hospital.
With the availability of both on-site ground and air transportation services on the St.Vincent Jennings Hospital campus, Emergency physicians have immediate access to excellent transportation service when a patient’s condition requires more advanced medical care.
Along with emergency services, local residents can receive rehabilitation therapy, medical imaging, surgery, laboratory, orthopedic services, primary care, swing bed – skilled rehab, and an array of outpatient services at St.Vincent Jennings Hospital.

Services
The St.Vincent Jennings Emergency Department is staffed 24/7 with an emergency department physician, along with caring, experienced nursing and clerical staff. Patients are treated in one of 10 patient care areas.
All nursing staff have completed advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) certification programs. Also, some of our nursing staff have additional training in the trauma nursing core course (TNCC).

In the near future, our emergency department will have a new telemetry, cardiac monitoring system, which will provide an even higher level of care for our patients.
