Pastoral Care
As a faith-based hospital ministry, St.Vincent Jennings is committed to meeting the spiritual needs of its patients and their families through compassionate pastoral care and bereavement services.
The Role of Pastoral Care
To provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and their families, associates, volunteers, and the medical staff, and to provide outreach to the community.
The pastoral care staff endeavors to:
- Witness in a ministry of presence
- Accept and promote the individual's freedom with respect to religious beliefs and practices
- Promote and encourage the holistic practice of health care (mind, body, and spirit)
- Affirm the natural process of grief and assist in this process
The Spirit of Caring at Work
Our chaplain is on-site daily to meet with patients in our hospital. Patients are welcome to invite their priest, minister, or rabbi to visit at any time. With the permission of the patient or family, a patient’s spiritual leader will be notified of the patient’s admission to the hospital.
We offer three areas within the hospital and on the hospital campus where patients can go for inspiration or a quiet place to reflect—our chapel, serenity gardens, or labyrinth.

Monthly worship services are held at the Hospital Chapel, located off the Main Lobby. These services are typically held on the last Tuesday and last Wednesday of each month (although holidays in November and December may alter the schedule).
