Classes

Classes, workshops and one-to-one teaching are an important aspect of St.Vincent Mercy Hospital’s approach to community health care education.

We offer the following classes:

Better Breathers

What it is: A free support group for adults who suffer from a lung and/or chronic heart disease.

Members share their experiences, knowledge, ideas and strengths for a better quality of life. Meetings include expert speakers, video presentations and roundtable discussions. Family members are encouraged to attend. This group is part of the American Lung Association in partnership with St.Vincent Mercy Hospital.

When: Better Breathers meets the third Wednesday of each month at 3:00 p.m.

Safe Sitter

What it is: A medically accurate program that teaches girls and boys ages 11 to 13 how to handle emergencies when caring for younger children.

The goal of Safe Sitter is to reduce the number of avoidable and unintentional deaths among children being cared for by babysitters. To successfully complete the Safe Sitter program, the students must attend a one-day class and pass a practical and written test to show that they have mastered the key concepts and have the skills necessary to handle an emergency.
