The St.Vincent Mercy Hospital Radiology Department has state-of-the-art equipment, all with the newest technology available. There's no reason to travel elsewhere. Our experienced hospital radiographers perform more than 20,000 procedures a year. Radiology services are available 24 hours, seven days a week.

Services
General Radiology
All general radiology is performed at St.Vincent Mercy Hospital. Emergency exams can be performed around the clock.
There are three general X-ray rooms in which tests such as chest, head, neck, back and extremity X-rays can be performed. Other procedures such as arthrograms, mylograms, venograms, biopsies and all fluoroscopy studies can also be done.
We perform fluoroscopy exams such as:
- Colon/air contrast BE
- Upper GI (stomach X-ray)
- IVP (kidney X-ray)
We offer special procedures such as:
- Lumbar punctures
- Video swallowing studies
- Cystograms
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
We perform all MRI services, both contrast and non-contrasted. Screenings are performed prior to testing on every patient to be sure it is safe. For example, patients are tested for pacemakers, stents, implants, surgical clips, etc.
We perform MRI services for:
- Head
- Abdomen
- Extremity
- Spine
We perform Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) for:
Facility
Our MRI suite is a beautiful 350-square-foot room with a skylight. It houses the Philips 1.5 T Ultra-Short Bore MRI. The power of this magnet will provide the best pictures of anywhere within driving distance.

Computerized Tomography (CT)
We offer computerized tomography and some aspects of computerized tomography angiography (CTA). The quality, experience, and knowledge of the technologist are unsurpassed.
The CT procedures we offer include:
- Head, such as sinus, orbits, brain
- Neck, such as angiogram, soft tissue
- Chest, such aspulmonary embolism studies, lung mass
- Abdomen, such as liver, kidney
- Pelvis
- Extremities, such as foot, ankle, knee, shoulder
- Spine, such as lumbar, thoracic, cervical
Facility
Our CT suite is also over 300 square feet and houses the Philips Mx8000 CT scanner. This scanner is capable of performing diagnostic tests to find even the smallest of pathologies.

Nuclear Medicine
All nuclear medicine diagnostic exams can be performed at St.Vincent Mercy Hospital, including:
- Brain scan
- Bone scan
- Cardiac rest and stress
- White blood cell (WBC) infection scan
- Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) of any body part/organ
- Thyroid
- Parathyroid
- Gallbladder
- Gastric emptying
- Tumor localization
We are the only facility in the area that offers Miraluma scans of the breast.
Facility
The nuclear medicine suite is over 400 square feet and houses the InfiniaTM nuclear medicine camera from GE Healthcare. This new dual-head camera with state-of-the-art reconstruction software ensures patients the highest quality exams using minimal camera time.

Ultrasound
All types of ultrasound scans, biopsies, and special procedures are performed at St.Vincent Mercy Hospital. We are one of the few hospitals in the country to offer cardiac (Echo) services out of the Radiology Department. We have two highly trained ultrasonographers to cover all possible ultrasound exams, including:
- OB
- Abdomen
- Vascular
- Cardiac

Our hours are: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; emergency coverage available on weekends.
Mammography
We provide all aspects of mammography, from diagnostic to screenings to biopsies. The two main types of mammography performed are:
- Screening mammography: Should be performed once a year. Four views are taken of each breast: top, bottom, medial, and lateral.
- Diagnostic mammography: A more specialized view performed when something is detected during a screening mammography
We also offer the following procedures for breast care:
- Ultrasound breast exam
- Ultrasound breast biopsy
- Ultrasound aspiration of breast
- Ductograms
- Needle localizations
- Sentinel node biopsy (nuclear medicine)
