High-Risk Obstetrical Unit

Whether your pregnancy is determined to be high-risk from the beginning or complications arise later on, St.Vincent Women's Hospital is prepared to be the hospital of choice for mothers and babies in high-risk situations. We are the only hospital in Indiana with the highest level of obstetric care (Level 3 and Newborn Intensive Care Level 3c) in one location. Our team of physicians including Maternal-Fetal Medicine, neonatologists and pediatric sub-specialists works together to deliver a comprehensive continuum of care for expectant mothers, new moms and newborns.

At St.Vincent Women's Hospital we provide comfortable, comprehensive care for women experiencing obstetric and/or medical challenges that require hospitalization. Our High-Risk Obstetrical Unit (HRU) achieved its disease-specific certification in high-risk obstetrics by The Joint Commission - only the second in the U.S. to achieve such designation. We offer inpatient holistic care by a highly experience nursing staff for intensive monitoring of mother and baby for short-term and extended stays.

Indiana’s largest team of board-certified Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists providing 24/7 coverage, certified ultrasonographers (AIUM), obstetricians, experienced labor and delivery and high-risk OB nurses, and neonatalogists from our Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) are all essential components of our high-risk perinatal services. Other members of our health care team include social services, pastoral care, pharmacy, dietitians, lactation consultants, case management representatives, and respiratory, physical and occupational therapists.
