Cutera Limelight® Facial (IPL)

Intelligent Pulsed Light Technology to Reverse Signs of Sun Damage

As many as 90 percent of patients age 65 years or older have solar lentigos, according to an article in Archive of Dermatology. These sun spots or age spots, as they are commonly called, are caused by chronic sun exposure.

Light-based rejuvenation procedures, such as Limelight®, utilize Intelligent Pulsed Light (IPL), or a form of light that passes through the epidermis without damaging it to create changes beneath the skin’s surface. Light-based treatments, such as the Cutera Limelight®, are effective at addressing rosacea, veins, sun damage, and other cosmetic issues related to excessive or uneven pigment, with little to no downtime. And while they may not specifically affect the surface of the skin, the changes created within the skin are visible on the surface.

Each Limelight® treatment (a series is usually recommended) takes less than an hour with no downtime and no pain.

How long does a Limelight® facial take?

A Limelight® treatment performed on the entire face generally takes about 45 minutes.

How will my skin feel during the treatment?

During treatment you may experience a brief, mild sting (similar to a rubberband snap) when the pulse of light is delivered. Most patients find this sensation to be quite tolerable, therefore, no anesthesia or medication is necessary.

How long after treatment may I return to normal activities?

Following your Limelight® facial, you may return to normal activities immediately. Your skin may appear to have rosy flush and feel slightly sensitive to the touch, however, most patients feel comfortable in resuming normal activities.

How many treatments will I need to achieve optimum results?

Generally, dramatic results from Limelight® can be achieved in one or two treatments. As an exception, unusually large or dark areas may require additional treatments.

How long will my results last?

Following your Limelight® treatment, the spots which have been successfully treated will not return. However, if you continue to expose your skin to the sun without sufficient sunscreen application, new spots can appear as a result.
