The Center for Healthy Aging provides exceptional clinical services, advocacy, research and education for seniors. Our geriatric and gerontological clinical practices serve as an authentic voice for the elderly in our community.
Geriatric Assessment Program
This program tests the functional, physical and neuropsychological capabilities of an individual 65 years of age or older. It requires three appointments spread over a period of time. Appointments are available on Monday or Wednesday mornings.Â
This exam includes:
- Inventory of medications (prescribed and over the counter)
- Nutritional status
- Functional abilities
- Emotional and physical coping mechanisms
- Memory capacity
Further testing and screening apart from this visit may be recommended upon completion of the geriatrician’s examination. Final results and recommendations are presented to the patient and family in a follow-up visit.
Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP)
The SHIIP Office at St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital offers free, unbiased counseling and information about:
- Medicare
- Medicare Supplement Insurance
- Medicare Managed Care Plans
- Medicaid
- Long-Term Care Insurance
- The Indiana Long-Term Care Insurance Program
- Confusing medical bills/statements

QMB/SLMB Enrollment Center at St.Vincent
The Qualified Medicare Beneficiary/Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary Program (QMB/SLMB) helps seniors who struggle with the financial strain of Medicare deductibles and co-payments.
